Custom Coffee Table Design
After a long day on the
sofa, you want to relax comfortably, perhaps with a good book and a cup of tea, or watch an exciting film with a glass of red wine? Then, alongside a comfortable sofa, a side table is very practical. Here are a few tips on how to best assemble your new custom coffee table.
Coffee Table Configurator: Choose the Perfect Size
Height of the Custom Coffee Table
Have your new coffee table made to your desired dimensions with millimetre precision. The first consideration for the size of your custom coffee table is the correct height. Ideally, the table should be the same height as the surrounding seating, around 45 to 50 centimetres. This keeps the coffee table visually understated and prevents it from looking bulky. Additionally, it allows for an unobstructed view of the sofa and decorative cushions. If you plan to frequently enjoy coffee or snacks there, you should consider configuring the table slightly higher. If you have particularly low lounge furniture, the side table should also be lower. A low coffee table can create an interesting contrast with high sofas and armchairs, but it may not suit every decor style. So configure your new coffee table in a way that establishes a stylistic continuity throughout your living room.
Size of the Tabletop
Square coffee tables are renowned for their timeless design. In addition to height, the size of the tabletop is also important for your custom coffee table. To sit comfortably on the sofa without bumping into the coffee table, there should be about 45 centimetres of space between the furniture. Upholstered furniture like corner sofas or sofas with a longchair limits the space available for a table. With a 2-seater or 3-seater sofa, you have the freedom to choose the size of the tabletop. However, for an especially good look, there’s a rule of thumb: The length of the coffee table should be about a third or half the length of the sofa.
If you prefer a tidy and minimalist home, a small table will suffice. Square tables appear particularly calm, clear, and structured. If you enjoy decorating your coffee table with large bouquets or arranging your favourite magazines or remotes, you should plan for more depth and opt for a rectangular table. One tip before you order your new custom coffee table: tape the intended space for the table in your living room. This way, you can see how it looks and whether the size is optimal.
Custom Coffee Table: With Your Desired Decor
When planning your custom coffee table, it’s not just the right size that matters – the aesthetics are important too. You can freely choose the decors, allowing you to design your new table yourself. Match the coffee table to your taste and the decor style of your living room. Do you like the simple Scandi style? Then opt for light coffee tables, such as in white. If you particularly enjoy the romantic country house style, natural woods like beech are the perfect choice for you. An interesting mix can also be created by designing the tabletop and legs in different colours. For instance, a combination of white table legs with a dark grey or light grey top looks minimalistic. On the other hand, legs in beech with a tabletop in white or cream create a particularly warm and cosy feel. When designing your custom coffee table, also consider the colour of your existing furniture. Uniform furniture will create a harmonious overall impression for your living room.
Models and Materials for Your Custom Coffee Table
You can assemble your coffee table however you like. You essentially have two different table models to choose from:
• Model “Lisa”: The outer sides of the table flush with the tabletop.
• Model “Julia”: The table leg is set 28.5 centimetres inward from the outer edge of the table.
The screws and connecting elements are only visible at the traverse for both table models. For maximum stability, the traverse is centrally located under the tabletop. Your new custom coffee table will also be particularly sturdy thanks to the material thickness of the wood composite boards:
• Tabletop: 25 mm
• Outer sides: 25 mm
• Traverse: 25 mm
Care Tips for Your Coffee Table
You can easily remove dust with a dry cloth. If a coffee or tea cup spills, you can remove the stains with a damp cloth, but it should not be too wet. For stubborn stains, you can also use a gentle cleaning agent. After that, it’s best to wipe the coffee table with a dry towel. To avoid scratches on the tabletop, place drinks on a coaster. This way, you can enjoy your new custom coffee table for a long time.
Custom Coffee Table: For a Cozy and Individual Look in Your Living Room
Have your new coffee table crafted entirely to your personal taste and style. This will also enhance the unique look of your home. As square tables appear particularly straightforward and you can configure your custom coffee table to the millimetre, it will also fit into a small living room. You can then decorate your new coffee table as you wish, for example, with fresh flowers in beautiful vases or candles in stylish decorative bowls. This way, your living room will feel especially cosy and inviting.
