Furniture made from solid wood is something truly special: High-quality, durable, and stable, it serves as an impressive focal point that imparts a distinctive character to any room. At Furnfab.com, you can configure solid wood furniture, combine it with other decors, and thus create a unique piece that will bring you joy for many years. Are you looking for an oak cabinet or a beech chest of drawers? Or have you long desired a shelf made from core beech? In the solid wood furniture configurator, you can fulfil your wishes yourself!
• Beech (European, steamed, without red core, knot-free), finger-jointed or with continuous lamella
• Oak (European, knot-free, top side (A-side) without sapwood, knot-free, bottom side (B-side) with max. 20% healthy sapwood content, finger-jointed or with continuous lamella
• Core Beech (both sides with approx. 20% red core content), finger-jointed or with continuous lamella
In a finger-jointed panel, individual solid wood strips are connected in length by wedge-shaped fingers that are glued together. This allows multiple shorter solid wood strips to be joined into a long lamella. These lamellas are glued together side by side to form an extremely stable solid wood panel. A very high proportion of the tree trunk can be used for this panel, resulting in minimal wood waste during production. This makes this panel cheaper than the continuous version.
Continuous lamellas, on the other hand, consist of solid wood lamellas that are continuous in length, meaning they are not formed by gluing multiple pieces of wood together. This leads to a uniform, calm appearance. Only a significantly lower proportion of the tree trunk can be used to create this panel. A small portion of the remaining wood can be reused for the finger-jointed panel, but the proportion of wood waste is larger here. This makes this panel more expensive than the finger-jointed variant.
In the furniture planner at Furnfab.com, you have the opportunity to configure your new custom furniture in solid wood. First, decide between the options "sideboard" or "shelf." The intuitive configurator then guides you through the individual steps.
Set the dimensions of the furniture, which you previously determined using our measuring guides. Do you need assistance with this? You can easily book our professional measuring service, which will take measurements in your space. Next, specify the number and size of the individual elements and choose the features of your furniture.
Finally, it’s time for design: Choose your preferred solid wood and, if desired, combine it with another decor of your choice. The interior design experts at Furnfab.com recommend combining solid wood with a uni decor. You have access to light shades such as white, cream, and light grey, as well as darker options in stone grey, anthracite, or black. Just before submitting your order, you can also add extras like a baseboard cutout (only if you’ve planned a base), cable holes, and cutouts.
Once you’ve submitted your order, it goes to our customer advisors. They will thoroughly check your configuration to exclude any potential design flaws. After successful verification, your solid wood furniture will be manufactured in our own production facility in Rheinbach, adhering to the quality standard "Made in Germany." Here, we combine the modern technologies of Industry 4.0 with the expertise of our experienced master carpenters to meet the highest demands for our products.

• Durability: Once purchased, solid wood furniture remains loyal for a long time and gains character with age.
• Unique Piece: Solid wood is a natural product, which means that the grain of the furniture always differs—each piece is unique.
• Good Room Climate: Wood absorbs excess moisture and releases it back into dry air. This process is referred to when people say that wood "works".
• High Quality: The woods come from sustainably managed forests in Europe and are processed in our own production facility to the highest quality standards.
• Cared-for Surfaces: Each of our solid wood furniture pieces is hand-oiled before delivery, ensuring that the surface is well cared for and protected. The surfaces can later be re-oiled if needed.
• No More False Compromises: In the online configurator, your new solid wood furniture is created according to your ideas and tailored to your needs.
Wood is a natural product, and each type of wood has its own specific characteristics. Distinctive features such as knots, pressure marks, hairline and cross cracks, knot closures, resin galls, tensions (twisting growth), as well as colour and texture differences vary depending on the growth area and wood type—this is precisely what makes furniture from solid wood a distinctive piece of natural origin.
As wood is a renewable raw material, it is classified as a regenerative energy source. Particularly in the furniture sector, wood contributes to a homely atmosphere and a healthy indoor climate due to its specific characteristics and multifaceted appearance. Furthermore, wood can be used in a variety of ways due to its technical and physical properties. To preserve these special attributes and the unique beauty of your solid wood furniture, there are a few points to keep in mind.
Wood is hygroscopic, meaning that the internal moisture of the wood adapts to changing surroundings. Through the absorption and release of moisture, dimensional changes occur, causing the wood to "work." To counteract this, you should ensure a healthy and preferably constant indoor climate. The ideal values are a consistent room temperature between 18 - 23 degrees Celsius and a humidity level between 45 - 65%.
If the air is too dry or too humid, it can damage your solid wood furniture and lead to dimensional changes in the wood. Particularly in winter months, indoor humidity can drop to as low as 25% due to dry heating air. You can improve low humidity levels with a humidifier. Alternatively, you can place a glass of water inside your solid wood furniture or use water containers on the radiators to increase humidity. To minimise drying cracks and shrinkage due to low humidity, it is advisable to regularly oil your solid wood furniture. Please use only appropriate care products.
In particularly unheated rooms where temperatures fall below 20 degrees Celsius, the air may be too humid for solid wood. This often affects basements, garages, and hallways, as well as rooms that are less ventilated, such as conservatories, new builds, and storage rooms. Additionally, after prolonged periods of rainy weather in spring and summer, there can be increased humidity in your home. In this case, you should heat the spaces to avoid excessive swelling of the wood.
Our solid woods are hand-oiled before your custom furniture is delivered. We only use high-quality bio-oil from the renowned brand BIOFA. To clean your wooden furniture, you do not need to do much: Wipe the surface once a week with a soft cloth to remove dust. For minor stains, you can dampen the cloth beforehand and then dry wipe it.
In general, it is advisable to re-treat oiled surfaces every few years, especially if they are heavily used or the indoor climate is rather dry. To do this, wipe the surface, apply the wood oil, and allow it to soak in before polishing the wood with a soft cotton cloth.
• Protect the surfaces of your solid wood furniture from moisture and heat (e.g. from heaters) to avoid damage and stains.
• Avoid intense light exposure, as this can cause the wood to fade.
• Note that oiled surfaces can exhibit natural shadow formations. These occur because solid wood absorbs oil differently.
• Solid wood is a natural product that continuously "works." Therefore, gaps, for example, in doors, may change by a few millimetres, or the wood may expand with high humidity.
• Avoid contact between your solid wood furniture and alcohol, chemicals, or other aggressive substances. In an emergency, you can wipe the substance with a damp cloth and then dry the affected area.
